“Stop where you are. Keep your head lowered and put your hands in the air.”
Contrary to his words the head shot up at the sound of his voice. “Adam.” Her voice cracked, rough from not being used, or from thirst, it was hard to tell.
He lowered the gun. “Faye?” His eyes were suspicious, “That’s impossible. You’re dead. I watched them kill you.” His own voice was cracking slightly under pressure.
“You thought you did.” Her attempted bravado was cracking, tears threatening to spill, “Takes..takes more than a few guns to get rid of me, hotshot.” The mask cracked on the last word, tears streamed down her face, leaving lines in the dirt that had settled there.
He tucked his gun into his belt and stepped to her side immediately.

When Katniss left 13 for the Capitol, Johanna never let go of the gift that Katniss made her. She clenched to it as her eyes locked on the television screen for days, waiting for news on the war. Every time she smelled the leaves that reminded her of home, she realized more and more that her feelings for Katniss were much more than physical. Her feelings were more than just a fun game to play when she got bored. Home now reminded her of Katniss, and she wanted nothing more than to have both of them.
